The Church at Ephesus received fame not only by being the second largest city in the first century after Rome itself, and being the center of religion in the known world, but also by becoming a major hub of the fledgling Christian faith, receiving a letter from the Apostle Paul (the epistle surviving history as part of the Bible), who nurtured it’s birth and early growth.

They were staunch protectors of truth, for which they received praise from the risen Jesus in Revelations chapter 2. However, that praise came with a warning: “Don’t forget your first love,” at risk of extinguishing their bright flame. This misfortune came to pass, as the church at Ephesus is no more.
